HECSALV - Salvage and Emergency Response Software

During a vessel emergency, response time is critical. Starting with the last known departure condition, HECSALV allows the user to quickly collect and process available data, define the extreme bounds of the problem, and evaluate multiple scenarios for remedial action. The user can automatically update the entire analysis from beginning assumptions to later stage pump allocations, producing a refined and carefully considered salvage plan to follow. HECSALV includes rendered 3D graphics, simplified grounding definition wizard, observed draft tools to quickly establish the waterplane using a variety of approaches, fully integrated ullage/sounding tools, customizable alarms and criteria, and much more.

Used by Naval Architects, Salvage Engineers, Ship Owners, Classification Societies, Military Organizations

  • Intact and free-floating damage stability

  • Lightering plans

  • Oil outflow analysis

  • Fire water loading

  • Tide cycle analysis

  • Stress analysis (with damaged or corroded structure)

  • Longitudinal strength assessment

  • Multiple grounding types (pinnacles, shelves)

  • Macro language for custom calculations

HECSALV is supported by the following applications:

Ship Project Editor: Ship modeling tool

Ship and offshore modeling program to define vessel geometry and tabular information for salvage and emergency response. Includes rapid modeling tools to create model data when limited information is available.

Section Modulus Editor: Detailed structural section definition tool

Program to build structural cross sections from a library of standard structural shapes and compute section modulus as well as other structural properties. Includes tools to quickly corrode and/or damage the structure for emergency and salvage analysis in HECSALV.

Tow: Tow planning tool to evaluate towing requirements

Applicability:

Floating structures of any type, size, or operation. HECSALV calculations have been used on the largest fLNGs in the world, down to the smallest fishing vessels, and everything in between.
