HECSTAB – Design and Regulatory Stability Assessment Software
HECSTAB is a versatile package for the Naval Architect involved in ship design and analysis. Develop models to analyze trim, intact and damage stability, and longitudinal strength. Easily modify designs and re-evaluate assessments. HECSTAB contains a fully integrated modeling package, a hierarchical analysis interface, streamlined wizard-style analysis templates, and a state-of-the-art Python scripting interface.
Used by Naval Architects, Salvage Engineers, Ship Owners, Classification Societies, Military Organizations
Vessel modeling, with Rhino3D integration
Intact and free-floating damage stability
Multiple grounding types (pinnacles, shelves)
Longitudinal strength analysis
Compatible with CargoMax
Python scripting engine
Flexible script-based reporting
HECSTAB is supported by the following modules:
Python Editor: Python API and script interface to extend program functionality
Python scripting interface that is fully integrated with the Herbert-ABS Application Programming Interface to run custom scripts, create new analysis templates, or generate reports for HECSTAB.
Ship Project Editor: Ship modeling tool
Ship modeling program to define vessel geometry and tabular information for design submittal and regulatory assessment.
Section Modulus Editor: Detailed structural section definition tool
Program to build structural cross sections from a library of standard structural shapes and compute section modulus as well as other structural properties. Includes tools to quickly corrode and/or damage the structure.
Rhino3D and Grasshopper Plugins: Rhino3D and Grasshopper integration
Plugin support to allow users to develop hull models and compartmentation in Rhino and export models for use in HECSTAB and Ship Project Editor. Use Grasshopper blocks to further extend Rhino modeling to parametrically design vessels by dynamically shifting bulkheads and automatically develop a compartmentation plan. (Rhino 7 required for plugin support, Python scripts available for older Rhino versions)
Applicability:
Floating structures of any type, size, or operation. HECSTAB calculations have been used on the largest fLNGs in the world, down to the smallest fishing vessels, and everything in between.
